Facial Treatments

Cosmetic injections are a non-permanent facial treatment used to smooth out wrinkles, frown lines, or crow’s feet. The visible effects of these injections can last for up to four months. Notably, these injections contain is a prescription medicine and must be prescribed by a Doctor, Dentist, or Nurse Prescriber.

The ageing process causes the slowing down of collagen and elastin production thereby these areas become damaged and permanently lined. By reducing the movement of the muscles, the skin in these areas is allowed to recover causing the lines to soften and even fade away. Cosmetic injections cause temporary inactivation during which time the patient may subconsciously break the habit of overuse. Depending upon each individual and the dose used, the response to treatment can vary from a relaxation of the muscles to an inability to move the muscles. For the first couple of years, frequent treatments are required to “re-educate” the facial muscles. Thereafter, treatments may become less frequent and eventually.
